Appointment:
40 % Research
60 % Extension
Extension and Research Interests:
My extension program consists of managing the Florida Extension Plant
Diagnostic Clinic at NFREC, Quincy, providing leadership and coordination
for north Florida county faculty and producers on the etiology and
management of horticultural crop diseases, and developing UF/IFAS Distance
Diagnostic and Identification System (DDIS) concerning plant diseases in
Florida.
My research activities mainly involve diseases of vegetables and woody
ornamental crops which are important in North Florida. I focus on the
etiology, biology and epidemiology of these diseases, as well as genetic
diversity of bacterial pathogens. Interdisciplinary approaches for disease
management by reduced-risk compounds, cultural practices and host
resistance are important aspects of my research program (http://plantdoctor.ifas.ufl.edu).
