Want
To Know More About Native Wildflower and Grass Seed Production?
Seed production of
native wildflowers and grasses will be the focus of Seeds of the
Future, a national workshop that is being held in Orlando from April
18-20 at the Rosen Plaza Hotel. Experts from across the country will
be talking about
·
technical and economic aspects of the seed production business
·
markets for native wildflower and grass seed
·
organizations and agencies that can provide assistance to seed producers
The Keynote Speaker will
be Dr. Carol Baskin of the University of Kentucky. Dr. Baskin is a
widely recognized expert in the area of seed germination and dormancy.
She and her husband, Dr. Jerry Baskin, recently authored the book Seeds:
Ecology, Biogeography, and Evolution of Dormancy and Germination.
Experienced growers will address technical and economic aspects of seed
production while representatives from federal, state, and private
sectors will address the market and need for native wildflower and grass
seed. Information about seed standards and certification laws will also
be presented.
The registration fee for this conference is only
$100 (a bargain!!! thanks to our two main sponsors, the Federal Highway
Administration and the Florida Department of Transportation
Environmental Management Office). But better yet, if you are a State of
Florida employee, your registration is FREE!!!
Details about the
workshop can be accessed and printed from the links listed below.
