Extension: Sustaining the viability of beef production in the United States.
Expectations for my 30% extension appointment have been to support existing programs and provide leadership to regional and county extension faculty and programs. However, my goal for extension has been to proactively create and maintain a program, which would gain national recognition for impacting numerous producers. My Extension program efforts are defined by an all encompassing program titled: “Sustaining the viability of beef production in the United States.” As the industry evolves, stakeholders’ needs change, thus new extension programs emerge while others are phased out in a systematic education cycle. At the University of Florida we have initiated the process to maintain and strengthen a cohesive team that our stakeholders can rely on as their first point of contact for reliable, meaningful information.
