Dr. Aiken, Glen E.
Center Director, North Florida Research and Education Center
Glen E. Aiken is Director of the North Florida Research and Education Center, which is located on three campuses (Quincy, Marianna and Live Oak) and part of the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences. He provides leadership and support for the research and extension programs that are meeting challenges of the extremely diversified agriculture of North Florida. Prior to assuming the administrative responsibilities for NFREC, he was an agronomist and animal scientist for USDA-Agricultural Research Service’s Forage-Animal Production Research Unit located in Lexington, KY. He conducted grazing research to develop management approaches and strategies to improve performance and sustainability of forage-based livestock systems. Dr. Aiken served as the Unit’s Research Leader from 2013 to 2017. During his tenure as Research Leader, he developed strong relationships with the Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association, Kentucky Farm Bureau and the Kentucky Forage and Grassland Council. He is a Fellow in the Crop Science Society of American and the American Society of Agronomy.
