Horticultural Entomology Lab

Laboratory Technical Position - Horticultural Entomological Laboratory

Dr Xavier Martini’s Laboratory at the North Florida Research and Education Center is looking to fill a technician position as OPS (Temporary Employment (OPS) – UF Human Resources (ufl.edu)). Job responsibilities include:

  • Taking charge, under supervision of insect lab colonies (house flies, whiteflies, and pepper weevil)
  • Participate to field trials (insect sampling, pollinator count, fruit harvest)
  • Conducting under the supervision of Dr. Martini, or one of his postdoc or student laboratory experiment on insect behavior and/or chemical ecology.

The candidate should be able to work outside under hot temperature during the field trials. A BS with a major in either natural science, entomology, agricultural science, chemistry, or equivalent will be preferred but is not mandatory. Position is $15/h with retirement benefit included for 20 to 40h per week, depending on the candidate's availability.
